Darley Moor Road Races

Another wet, cold and unpleasant day in Darley Moor.

Daz Ste & Ben took the start which was fast with a strong tail wind helping to see speeds of 35mph in the straights.

With a few early breaks Daz was well up to the front leading the bunch twice down the tail wind straight.

Ben & Ste were not enjoying the conditions, the boys staying in the wheels but with such a fast event taking it out of Ste & Ben, they retired with 5 laps to go.

With 10 laps of the 22 gone, Daz went hard up the cross wind drag finish opening a gap of a few seconds over the bunch, turning into the tail wind straight with the gap increasing and straining to hold 30mph with the bunch were closing fast. Half a lap later it was over but Daz stayed in the thick of the action.

As the bunch turned for the sprint Darren was a well placed in the top 25 but as the sprint started up he followed a great wheel which saw him move into the top 20. With the line approaching riders began to die and Daz made a late surge for the line finishing (officially) 12th out of 85. (I counted 7 lads in front of me at the finish...robbed for 8th. I say wrong side of the finish for the camera...gutted) LOL!!
