Darley Moor Road Races: 9th and 16th March 2013

Race 1, 9th March

In the first event of this challenging windy circuit race, Ben, Ste, & Daz took the start.

A fast opening saw the clarion boys fighting in the wheels with Daz staying up near the front out of danger. Ben & Ste both worked hard and rode really well in the wheels. Largely the bunch stayed together with good early season form being shown by strong riders at the front chasing most things down.

As the bunch lined up for the sprint Ben & Ste took up great positions in the top 20 leaving plenty of riders to take the wind up the head wind drag finish. Daz bottled it, and stayed safe in the middle of the 80 strong field but as the line approached he got a lucky run on the outside and with good legs managed to finish in the top 30.

However the story of the day was the fast finishing of the new boys; Ste following Bens lead and finishing well in the 20’s. These lads have only been riding in large groups for a couple of months, and have produced a top 20 finish in their second event in Clarion colours!!

Brilliant!! 

Race 2 16th March

Only Daz took the start in race two. A hard ride but still finished top 20 in the sprint!!
