Stockport Clarion Cycling Club
Mountain Biking
Off-road riding is fun. It's official. Join us on one of our rides to find out for yourself. Some more photos.

The mountain biking section of Stockport Clarion is very active. Most of us just ride for fun but there are also a few competitive riders who compete in everything from XC, cyclo-cross, enduros, Downhill Racing and events such as the TransWales (the Welsh version of the TransAlp/TransRockies etc) and also, check out Mark's articles about the Trans Scotland.

We meet up every Wednesday evening (at 7pm in car park opposite the Arden Arms in Stockport Town Centre, behind Asda, next to Matalan) for a 2 hour ride. In the winter these rides are night rides so bring some decent lights (on account that it gets dark about 4 hours earlier) and often muddy (on account that it rains a lot in winter). In the summer we make the most of the longer evenings and stay out and enjoy the dry dusty trails that little bit longer. These rides usually head towards Werneth Low or the hills near Marple. There are bits of addictive singletrack that you would never find without our ‘local’ knowledge.
There is also a mountain bike ride on Sunday mornings meeting at Stalybridge Railway station, at 9.00am. Email MTB captain Les Copeland for more information.
