Easter
Meet.
What is the Easter Meet?
It is where all sections of the National Clarion come together & have a
good time.
Each section rides to the Meet (if they're hard enough) on Good Friday, to
arrive at the venue for the Civic Reception with the Mayor. This is held at one
of the Meets main Hotels where the weekends festivities are based.
Saturday brings the Annual Conference in the morning (you'll only ever go to
one of these) or recovery from the night before (the two can not be combined
!!).
There is usually a road race in the morning and a club run in the afternoon,
and pillaging of the local fancy dress shops for Saturday evenings fancy dress
competition. Saturday night is also dancing night in case you've too much
energy left.
On Easter Sunday there is usually a 25 mile time-trial. If riding 25 miles
isn't hard enough, you have to get out of bed bloody early for the 8am start.
There is also a good chance the event organisor has set up a road race with
one of the local clubs. At least road races normally start at 10am.
The evening then sees the Disco dance & prize presentation. The Mayor
& National Clarion dignatories hand out the Trophies to the National
Clarion's finest. This is well worth it,
the National Clarion has some excellent trophies.
Easter Monday, still alive, not been arrested? OK, so you're up for the 10
mile time trial at 8am.
Now you can ride home.................
So, you think this is your scene? Well, Stockport Clarion always have a
strong presence at the Easter Meet, so make sure you're fit enough to get there
& back. Some pictures follow:

The
ride out. Sometimes an A & B run leave separately. There is
also a chance someone will be driving so you won't have to cram all your
clothing into panniers. There is a trophy fore the section with the highest
aggregate miulage.

The
Fancy Dress night is always great fun. You can gaurantee a crowd
of ***s h***s from Stockport will make a spectacle of themselves. Dracula, Humpty
Dumpty, a Gorilla, Frankestein and a naked man usually make an appearance !!

Disco fever.
